紓困

金融海嘯(financial tsunami)之後，美國許多大企業和金融機構紛紛向政府請求紓困。「紓困」的英文怎麼說？讓我們一起來看看。

紓困的英文，最常見的就是 bailout。這是名詞，如果要變成動詞的型態，就是 bail out。 先說bail這個字吧。如果查字典，通常會先看到它的意思是「保釋」、「保釋金」。最近新聞報導常聽到的「交保」，英文就是 to be released on bail.

例如：
The suspect was released on bail of 1 million dollars yesterday.
（嫌犯昨天以一百萬元交保）

當動詞配合out，就成了把人保釋出來的意思。


例如：
The criminal's lawyer is trying to bail him out.
（犯人的律師正在想辦法保釋他。）

在財經的場合，bailout可以這樣用：

Many people don't think the government bailoout will get the Wall Street firms out of the financial trouble.
（很多人不認為政府的紓困能使華爾街的這些公司脫離財務危機。）

The bailout plan is going to cost much more than expected.
